Associate professor in biostatistics and data science leadership opportunity at Aalborg University

At Center for Clinical Data Science (CLINDA), Department of Clinical Medicine, Aalborg University, a position as associate professor in biostatistics and group leader in data science methods is available for appointment as of January 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is permanent and full-time (37 hours per week).

Your work tasks    
Your role will include leading the development of novel biostatistical and machine learning methods for healthcare data. Building and mentoring a strong research group in data science methods. Collaborating with clinical researchers and public health experts to translate data into impactful insights. Contributing to teaching and supervision within the university's graduate and postgraduate programs.   

Your competencies    
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in statistics, and a strong academic track record in the development of statistical methodology. This core research should be complemented by evidence of well-developed collaborative applications in the medical domain. Proven leadership experience or potential to lead a research group. A collaborative mindset and passion for applying data science in health and clinical settings. 

Qualification requirements
Appointment as an associate professor requires research and teaching qualifications at the level that can be achieved through the satisfactory completion of a period of employment as an assistant professor but may also be obtained in other ways. 
It is a precondition that applicants have documented research at an international standard. In addition, applicants are assumed to have received supervision and pedagogical skills development and to have obtained a positive written assessment of their teaching qualifications.

Who we are    
CLINDA is a multidisciplinary center dedicated to bridging clinical practice and data science. It comprises three research groups: (1) Clinical AI, (2) Bioinformatics and Statistics, and (3) Data Science Methods. We are currently seeking a group leader for the Data Science Methods group. CLINDA includes 17 core staff members and collaborates with more than 20 affiliated postdocs and PhD students from other university faculties and Aalborg University Hospital. The Department of Clinical Medicine provides research-based teaching across all disciplines of the medical degree programme and conducts research within the clinical specialties. The department collaborates closely with hospitals in the North Denmark Region and general practice in both teaching and research. Medical students receive instruction at several hospital sites and in general practice throughout the region. The department is affiliated with approximately 40 research units, each representing a specific medical specialty. In addition to these, the department is also associated with several other research units and centres.
